This is caused by a causal organism known as: Xanthomonas campestris pv.
malvacearum. It has the following symptoms stated below:
1)
Angular dark brown lesion on the leaves.
2)
Black elongated lesions on young stems.
3)
Death of stem resulting from encircling of stem
by the lesions.
Black Arm (Bacterial
Blight) of cotton can
be transmitted via the medium stated below:
1)
It is transmitted from the debris of harvested
crop if they were disposed of.
2)
Rain splash can also help to transmit the
disease unto healthy plant.
Preventive And Control
Measure
1)
Use resistant cotton seeds for planting
2)
Destroy and dispose of infected crop debris
after harvesting, usually by burning.
3)
Employ efficient crop rotation
4)
Seed dressing with biocides before planting.
